Le opere prodotte in nuovi allestimenti<\/strong> sono al Teatro Regio di Parma Macbeth<\/em><\/strong> in versione francese<\/strong> (26 settembre, 6, 13, 17 ottobre 2024) e La battaglia di Legnano<\/em><\/strong> (29 settembre, 4, 20 ottobre 2024) e al Teatro Giuseppe Verdi di Busseto<\/strong> Un ballo in maschera<\/em><\/strong> (27, 28 settembre, 5, 12, 18 ottobre 2024). Al Teatro Girolamo Magnani di Fidenza Attila<\/em><\/strong> in forma di concerto (3, 11 ottobre 2024).<\/p>\n

Al Festival Verdi si rinnova e rinsalda la collaborazione del Teatro Regio con La Toscanini<\/strong>, il Coro del Teatro Regio di Parma <\/strong>preparato da Martino Faggiani<\/strong> il Teatro Comunale di Bologna<\/strong> e s\u2019intensifica la collaborazione scientifica con l\u2019Istituto Nazionale di Studi Verdiani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Giunge alla sua IX edizione<\/strong> Verdi Off<\/strong>, realizzata dal Teatro Regio con il Comune di Parma e con il sostegno dell\u2019Associazione \u201cParma, io ci sto!\u201d, che apre il Festival con la Verdi Street Parade<\/em> insieme alla Verdi SPIP Parade<\/em> e che prosegue con un ricco calendario di appuntamenti, tra concerti, mostre, installazioni, incontri, progetti speciali, coinvolgendo artisti e associazioni del territorio, per stimolare, creare e condividere un\u2019atmosfera festosa che abbracci chi vive e chi visita le terre del Maestro in occasione del Festival Verdi.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cPotere<\/em> e Politica<\/em> sono la trama e l\u2019ordito del programma con cui abbiamo intessuto le opere e i concerti del XXIV Festival Verdi- dichiara Luciano Messi<\/strong>, Sovrintendente del Teatro Regio di Parma, attraversando i secoli e i generi musicali dal melodramma ottocentesco alla musica del Novecento sino a quella contemporanea, richiamando ed evocando temi cari al Maestro, che sono stati di ispirazione per molti artisti. In questa esplorazione tematica si stringe al Festival Verdi anche Verdi Off, che andr\u00e0 oltre i confini della tela per abbracciare un pubblico sempre pi\u00f9 vasto e ribadire gli impegni assunti con il Manifesto Etico\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAncora una volta Verdi Off inaugura il Festival Verdi con la Verdi Street Parade<\/em> \u2013 dichiara Barbara Minghetti<\/strong>, Curatrice di Verdi Off: perch\u00e9 vogliamo uscire per strada e incontrare le persone nei luoghi della vita quotidiana, al lavoro, nelle piazze, per strada, nei parchi, e nei luoghi pi\u00f9 sensibili e far vibrare l\u00ec, pi\u00f9 forti che mai, le emozioni della musica e del teatro di Verdi. Come sempre Verdi Off, affiancher\u00e0 le grandi produzioni in cartellone con una miriade di iniziative innovative, multidisciplinari e inclusive, per rendere sempre pi\u00f9 vivo e contemporaneo il nostro Maestro\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ramificazioni<\/em><\/strong> \u00e8 la nuova sezione di concerti, installazioni, performance, che da Giuseppe Verdi apre alla musica di Luigi Nono, Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg, Dm\u00edtrij \u0160ostak\u00f3vi\u010d, Claudio Monteverdi, interpretati da musicisti e ensemble di assoluto rilievo.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cLe opere di Giuseppe Verdi non ammettono letture univoche \u2013 scrive Alessio Vlad<\/strong>, Consulente artistico del Festival Verdi. Quando le si affrontano, infatti, troppo diversi e vari sono i riferimenti e le prospettive che immediatamente, e spesso sorprendentemente, si scoprono, rendendo impossibile un approccio che possa isolarne i temi e i significati entro parametri consueti o definiti. Tuttavia, nella costruzione di un festival, individuare aspetti specifici pu\u00f2 essere utile, purch\u00e9 non si limiti la tematica entro confini che ne possano circoscrivere la comprensione. Verdi, infatti, nelle sue opere ha trattato argomenti universali e comuni a ogni epoca: costruire un percorso che, con libert\u00e0 e immaginazione, contribuisca a svelare come alcuni di questi argomenti possano aver costituito un riferimento per compositori, e non solo, che a quegli stessi temi hanno rivolto attenzione, cos\u00ec da farli diventare parte importante e caratterizzante della vicenda creativa di ognuno di loro, pu\u00f2 diventare interessante riflessione e dare un significato ulteriore alla programmazione. Allora, una volta definiti alcuni temi comuni tra le quattro opere verdiane che formano il nerbo del Festival, li rilanciamo proiettandoli nella storia e moltiplicandoli nei significati e nelle connessioni. Rendendoli poi manifesti tra concerti sinfonici, solistici, da camera che, insieme ad altre manifestazioni non solo arricchiscano la proposta, ma svelino tanti e diversi punti di vista e possibilit\u00e0 di lettura, cos\u00ec da rendere, in un caleidoscopico gioco di specchi, la figura di Verdi sempre pi\u00f9 centrale e imprescindibile nella storia e nell\u2019evoluzione della civilt\u00e0 dell\u2019uomo\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cLe opere in programma al XXIV Festival Verdi accendono un faro su un periodo creativo che, nell\u2019ambito della lunghissima parabola artistica verdiana, copre un ventennio straordinariamente fecondo, – scrive Francesco Izzo<\/strong>, Referente scientifico dell\u2019Istituto Nazionale di Studi Verdiani, professore ordinario presso la University of Southampton – dalla monumentalit\u00e0 guerriera e giovanile di Attila<\/em> (1846) allo slancio esplicitamente risorgimentale della Battaglia di Legnano<\/em> (1849), per arrivare al Verdi sofisticato e internazionale di Un ballo in maschera<\/em> (1859) e Macbeth<\/em> (1847, rev. 1865); quest\u2019ultimo \u00e8 eseguito in francese, come avvenne alla \u201cprima\u201d della revisione parigina. Rimane saldo l\u2019impegno a eseguire le opere di Verdi sulla base delle edizioni critiche pubblicate o in preparazione per The Works of Giuseppe Verdi<\/em>, l\u2019opera omnia del maestro edita congiuntamente da Casa Ricordi e The University of Chicago Press. Come restauri di opere pittoriche o architettoniche, le edizioni critiche sono preparate con criteri rigorosi seguendo i manoscritti autografi di Verdi e altre fonti autentiche, rimuovendo le tracce del tempo, correggendo segni ignorati o travisati da copisti e tipografi, e rettificando gli interventi della censura. E di pari passo con il restauro reso possibile dalle edizioni critiche, il Festival Verdi segue un percorso di lavoro che riporti in luce la ricchezza e la complessit\u00e0 della vocalit\u00e0 verdiana, in passato spesso ritenuta fondamentalmente drammatica ed eroica, e che invece consente, anzi richiede un\u2019infinit\u00e0 di sfumature dinamiche ed espressive, elasticit\u00e0 ritmica, e un uso sapiente di variazioni e cadenze quando previsto dall\u2019autore. In tutto questo c\u2019\u00e8 sempre molto da scoprire, molto di cui sorprendersi\u201d.<\/p>\n

L\u2019anteprima del XXIV Festival Verdi \u00e8 stata presentata in occasione della presenza degli International Friends of Festival Verdi<\/strong>, che, in una numerosa delegazione guidata dal Presidente James Miller<\/strong>, hanno rinnovato la loro entusiastica partecipazione all\u2019edizione 2023 e con i quali si sta lavorando a nuovi progetti a New York per il prossimo anno e in occasione della tavola rotonda di Opera Europa<\/strong>, presieduta da Karen Stone<\/strong>, Supporting communities through the arts: an Ethical Manifesto in opera as a tool for social engagement<\/em> ispirata al Manifesto Etico del Teatro Regio di Parma.<\/p>\n

IL MANIFESTO ETICO DEL TEATRO REGIO DI PARMA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Il Teatro Regio di Parma insieme al Comune di Parma e all\u2019associazione \u201cParma, io ci sto!\u201d ha elaborato il Manifesto etico, un progetto di impegno sociale proposto agli artisti del Festival Verdi, di Verdi Off e della Stagione Lirica che vede il Teatro Regio primo in Italia e in Europa nel riconoscere e strutturare, in una proposta ampia e articolata, la necessit\u00e0 di andare oltre la propria missione, particolarmente in questi tempi, per abbracciare i giovani, le comunit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 sensibili, fragili e periferiche, per coinvolgerle e farle sentire al centro, nel cuore della vita culturale della citt\u00e0.<\/p>\n

Sottoscrivendo il Manifesto etico, gli artisti (cantanti, registi, scenografi, direttori d\u2019orchestra, coreografi, \u2026) si impegnano a donare il proprio tempo in occasioni di incontro e dialogo facendo sentire la musica, il teatro, l\u2019arte pi\u00f9 vicini al cuore di ciascuno. \u201cPower<\/em> and Politics<\/em> represent both structure and plot of the program we have interwoven operas and concerts with for this XXIV Festival Verdi \u2013 states the Superintendent of Teatro Regio di Parma Luciano Messi<\/strong> \u2013 across the centuries and musical genres from the XVII-century melodrama to contemporary music and through the music of the XX century, recalling and summoning themes dear to the Maestro, a source of inspiration for many other artists. \u201cOnce again, Verdi Off inaugurates Festival Verdi with the event Verdi Street Parade<\/em> \u2013 states the Verdi Off Curator Barbara Minghetti<\/strong> \u2013 because we wish to bring the emotions produced by the music of Verdi out in the streets, squares, parks, places lived by both citizens and visitors as well as by more fragile people, allowing Verdi\u2019s art to resonate. As always, Verdi Off will take place alongside great productions of the program with many innovative, multi-disciplinary and inclusive events to render more contemporary and alive the figure of the Maestro\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ramificazioni<\/em><\/strong> is the new section of concerts, installations, performances connecting the music of Verdi with the art of Luigi Nono, Arnold Sch\u00f6nberg, Dm\u00edtrij \u0160ostak\u00f3vi\u010d and Claudio Monteverdi interpreted by renowned musicians and ensembles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe works of Giuseppe Verdi do not concede any univocal reading \u2013 writes the Artistic advisor of Festival Verdi Alessio Vlad<\/strong> \u2013 when facing them, in fact, we discover too many and varied, often surprising references and perspectives, preventing us from isolating themes and meanings within usual or defined parameters.\u00a0 Nevertheless, in the construction of a festival, detecting specific aspects could be useful as long as the theme is not limited within boundaries that circumscribe its reading. In fact, Verdi treated universal topics common in every historical period: freely and fantastically building a patch that contributes to reveal how some of such topics could have represented a reference for composers \u2013 who had focused on those same topics \u2013 making them an important and characterizing role in their creative journey, can turn into an interesting reflection and providing a further significance to the program. Once we defined some common themes in the four Verdian operas forming the core of the Festival, we relaunch and project them into history, multiplying their meanings and connections. We highlight them in the symphonic, soloists and chamber music concerts together with other events enriching the offer and revealing many points of view and ways of interpretation, rendering the figure od Verdi always more central and fundamental in the history and evolution of human civilization\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scheduled operas in the program of the XXIV Festival Verdi highlight a particularly productive creative period embedded in the long and fruitful artistic life of Giuseppe Verdi \u2013 writes the Scientific referent of\u00a0 Istituto Nazionale di Studi Verdiani and full professor at the University of Southampton Francesco Izzo<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0 from the monumental warrior figure of Attila<\/em> (1846) to the explicit energetic reference to the of Battaglia di Legnano<\/em> (1849), up to the sophisticated and international Verdi of Un ballo in maschera<\/em> (1859) and Macbeth<\/em> (1847, rev. 1865); the latter will be presented in French as it took place on the occasion of the \u201cpremiere\u201d in its Parisian revision. The Festival confirms its commitment to perform the works of Verdi based on the critical editions published or in progress for The Works of Giuseppe Verdi<\/em>, the total work on the Maestro jointly published by Casa Ricordi and The University of Chicago Press. Just as for the restoration of paintings and architectural works, the critical editions are prepared following rigorous criteria according Verdi\u2019s signed manuscripts and further authentic sources, removing the traces of time, correcting ignored or misinterpreted signs that copyists and typographers might have missed and adjusting all the censors\u2019 interventions. Alongside with such a restoration work thanks to the critical editions, Festival Verdi follows a working path brightening up the richness and complexity of the Verdian singing composition, often considered dramatic and heroic in the past, allowing instead to perceive many dynamic and expressive nuances, an elastic rhythm and a wise use of variations and cadences when indicated by the author. There is always much to discover and to be surprised about.\u201d.<\/p>\n

The preview of XXIV Festival Verdi has been presented on the occasion of the Opera Europa<\/strong> round table held by Karen Stone<\/strong>, Supporting communities through the arts: an Ethical Manifesto in opera as a tool for social engagement<\/em> inspired by the Manifesto Etico of Teatro Regio di Parma and by the presence of International Friends of Festival Verdi<\/strong> who, thanks to their numerous delegation led by the President James Miller<\/strong>, have renewed their enthusiastic participation to the 2023 edition of the Festival, and with whom we are working on new projects in New York next year.<\/p>\n

Opera Europa<\/strong> is the main organization for professional opera companies and festivals in Europe, currently serving over 233 members from 44 countries.<\/p>\n

IFFV<\/strong> is the non-profit association founded in the USA in 2017. In 2019, they obtained from the IRS the qualification 501 \u00a9 (3), one of the few similar titles which the Italian cultural associations can present. THE ETHICAL MANIFESTO OF TEATRO REGIO DI PARMA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Together with Comune di Parma , Teatro Regio di Parma and the association \u201cParma, io ci sto!\u201d has developed the Ethical Manifesto, a social commitment project proposed to the artists of Festival Verdi, Verdi Off and the Opera Season seeing Teatro Regio the first theatre in Italy and Europe to acknowledge and and structure in a broad and articulated proposal, the need to go beyond its mission, particularly in contemporary times, to embrace young people, the most sensitive individuals, fragile and suburban communities, to involve them and make them feel at the heart of the cultural life of the city.<\/p>\n

By signing such an ethical manifesto, the artists (singers, directors, set designers, orchestra conductors, choreographers) commit to donate their time for meetings and moments of dialogue, spreading music, theatre, art to feel closer to each other. In nursing homes, in prisons and hospitals, with children, with the blind and visually impaired, with women victims of violence, with migrants, with those who suffer or who have suddenly found themselves on the margins, with youth and training groups, in cultural associations and university groups, the calendar distributes such events during the whole period of the Festival.<\/p>\n
