SUMMER 2024<\/strong>Season openings, debuts and new productions
Hamburg, Bilbao,Cologne, Lyon, Naples, Rome<\/em><\/strong>Welcome back, dear friends!

I\u2019m writing to you from Frankfurt, where I\u2019ve just completed a successful run of Rossini\u2019s Otello<\/em>, the same place where, starting on 22nd June, I will be tackling Verdi\u2019s opera of the same name\u2014a significant and thrilling challenge for a conductor.

This will be my last production for a few months, as I\u2019ve decided to take the summer off to recharge after an intense period and, most importantly, to spend time with my family. In the meantime, I\u2019d like to update you on my upcoming schedule (more announcements will follow soon). I’ll be back on the podium starting in September when I’ll conduct Carmen<\/em> at the Staatsoper Hamburg<\/strong>. The following month I will open the new season at Bilbao Opera<\/strong> with a new production of an opera I dearly love, Don Pasquale <\/em>(after my debut at the Liceu in Barcelona just a few months ago, I\u2019m delighted to be back in Spain, a country that holds a special place in my heart). After that, I’ll be conducting three more new productions in Germany, France and Italy: Cologne<\/strong> for Nabucco<\/em>; Lyon<\/strong> for Madama Butterfly<\/em> with Ermonela Jaho as Cio-Cio-San; and, in February 2025, I will have the honour of making my house debut at Teatro San Carlo<\/strong> with Gounod\u2019s Rom\u00e9o et Juliette<\/em>, featuring Nadine Sierra and Javier Camarena in the title roles. This opera has never been performed before in Naples, which makes this debut even more special.The upcoming season will also include orchestral concerts <\/strong>in various Italian cities, something I am looking forward to immensely. Last, but most definitely not least, I will make my \u201chome\u201d debut conducting Rossini\u2019s Italiana in Algeri<\/em> at Teatro dell\u2019Opera di Roma<\/strong>. This is a moment I’ve been anticipating for a long time, and it holds a deeply personal significance for me so I hope to see many of you there.
