One hundred and fifty years after its first performance, it is still explosive from every point of view.It would be verbose to sing its praise by listing its various components, not least because they are revealed with absolute force and clarity from the outset, and because rivers of ink have been shed in the analysis of this opera.<br><br>What is more interesting \u2013&nbsp;<strong>the Maestro continues<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 is to experience<em>&nbsp;Carmen<\/em>&nbsp;from the perspective of the audience who, it is equally clear, love it not only for its perfect theatrical mechanism and immortal music, but also and above all for the social and political significance that&nbsp;<em>Carmen<\/em>&nbsp;has always conveyed throughout its long theatrical history. The<em>&nbsp;gitane<\/em>&nbsp;without morals, whose mortal destiny hangs over her from her first appearance, makes us reflect on the concepts of freedom, violence and the right to choose one\u2019s own destiny, however inevitable it might be. These are all themes that are still ceaselessly debated today, even in the most advanced democracies.<br><br>It took the genius of Bizet, but also that of the writer of the original novella and the librettist, to give us such modern, perturbing, anti-conventional theatre, in which the music is the vehicle for everything, transporting, commenting, tinging in pastel colours, then unexpectedly tearing through the canvas. Il Maestro affronta questo titolo dopo averlo debuttato nel 2019 al Teatro del Maggio e, alla vigilia della&nbsp;prima, ha dichiarato:<br><br><em>\u00ab<\/em><em>Carmen&nbsp;<\/em>\u00e8 un capolavoro e dirigerla \u00e8 sempre una sfida eccitante. A centocinquant&#8217;anni dalla sua prima rappresentazione continua ad essere dirompente sotto tutti gli aspetti.&nbsp;Sarebbe pleonastico decantarne le qualit\u00e0 elencandone i vari elementi, anche perch\u00e9 queste emergono con assoluta forza ed evidenza sin da un primo ascolto e perch\u00e9 sono gi\u00e0 stati versati fiumi di inchiostro sull&#8217;analisi di quest&#8217;opera.<br><br>Pi\u00f9 interessante \u00e8&nbsp;<em>sentire Carmen<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<strong>continua il Maestro<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;dalla parte del pubblico che, con altrettanta evidenza, la ama non solo per i perfetti meccanismi teatrali e per la musica immortale, ma anche e soprattutto per i significati sociali e politici che<em>&nbsp;Carmen<\/em>&nbsp;ha sempre veicolato durante la sua lunga vita teatrale.&nbsp;La gitana immorale sulla quale pende sin dalla sua prima sortita un destino mortale, ci fa meditare sul concetto di libert\u00e0, su quello della violenza e sul diritto di scegliere il proprio destino per quanto fatale esso posso essere. Tutti temi sui quali ancora oggi, anche nelle democrazie pi\u00f9 compiute si continua a dibattere incessantemente.<br><br>Ci voleva del genio \u2013 quello di Bizet ma anche di chi scrisse la novella originaria e di chi la ha trasformata in libretto \u2013 per restituire una drammaturgia cos\u00ec moderna, sconvolgente e anticonvenzionale nella quale la musica \u00e8 il vettore di tutto, trasporta e commenta, colora di pastello e poi squarcia improvvisamente la tela.
