with Donizetti’s Don Pasquale<\/em><\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>
Sesto Quatrini<\/strong> is set to inaugurate the new season of the ABAO Opera,<\/strong> Bilbao, with Donizetti’s Don Pasquale <\/em><\/strong>presented in a new staging by Emiliano Su\u00e1rez<\/strong> and scheduled for 19, 22, 25, 26, and 28 October<\/strong>. In addition to an excellent cast, he will also have the excellent orchestra and chorus of the Euskadiko Orkestra <\/strong>and Coro de \u00d3pera de Bilbao<\/strong> at his disposal for this engagement, which coincides with his debut in Bilbao.



\u00abI consider it to be a privilege to inaugurate the new season at Abao Bilbao with such a perfect masterpiece as Don Pasquale<\/em> by Donizetti \u2013 Quatrini remarked to the Spanish press ahead of the event. <\/strong>And I consider my debut at a theatre with such an interesting history and programming to be equally stimulating, with this work which I love because it requires so much careful attention from the director and conductor if it is to turn out as the composer intended: not so much a comic opera tout-court<\/em> as a humorous opera, with moments of sparkling hilarity alternating with glimpses of sentimental patheticism. Consequently, these different yet convergent emotions must be managed so as to render a perfect mechanism, in harmony with the staging and voices.



I think this new production by Emiliano Su\u00e1rez supports my musical vision of Don Pasquale <\/em>\u2013 the Maestro added<\/strong> \u2013because, by avoiding emphasis on the parodistic comic tradition, it gives back dignity to the opera\u2019s central characters who, as always in the masterpieces of the time, are and will always remain contemporary.<\/em> Our Don Pasquale<\/em>, in the unabridged version proposed by me and immediately accepted by the artistic direction of the theatre, aims to bring to the Bilbao audience the profoundness of its content, the beauty of its music, its ability to entertain today as in the past, and to spark reflection on the amorous dynamics and modernism of the protagonist, melancholically forced to abandon his final erotic and nuptial desires when faced with the love between two young people.\u00bb



Ahead of the premiere, Maestro Quatrini will be a guest this evening, 17 October<\/strong>, at the prestigious Euskaditalia<\/strong> for a conversation with musicologist Asier Vallejo Ugarte<\/strong>, where he will discuss his relationship with Donizetti and his passione for Spain.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Oltre all’ottimo cast, avr\u00e0 a disposizione le eccellenti compagini orchestrali e corali della Euskadiko Orkestra<\/strong> e Coro de \u00d3pera de Bilbao<\/strong> per questo impegno che coincide anche col suo debutto a Bilbao.

\u00abTrovo che sia un privilegio inaugurare la nuova stagione dell\u2019Abao Bilbao con un capolavoro perfetto come Don Pasquale<\/em> di Donizetti \u2013 ha dichiarato Quatrini in anteprima alla stampa spagnola<\/strong>. E trovo che il mio debutto in un teatro dalla storia e dalla programmazione cos\u00ec interessante sia altrettanto stimolante con questo titolo che amo anche perch\u00e9 necessita di grande attenzione da parte del direttore e concertatore se lo si vuole rendere per come l’autore l’aveva pensato e composto: non un’opera comica tout-court<\/em> quanto piuttosto un’opera umoristica, con momenti di ilarit\u00e0 frizzantissimi alternati a squarci di languido patetismo. Pertanto la gestione di questi diversi eppure convergenti sentimenti deve restituire un meccanismo perfetto, in armonia con la messa in scena e le voci.Penso che questa nuova produzione, firmata da Emiliano Su\u00e1rez, \u2013 prosegue il Maestro<\/strong> \u2013 sia di sostegno alla mia visione musicale di Don Pasquale<\/em> perch\u00e9, non insistendo sulla tradizione comica macchiettistica, rid\u00e0 dignit\u00e0 ai protagonisti dell\u2019opera che, come sempre nei capolavori di quel periodo, sono contemporanei sempre e per sempre. Ci ripromettiamo, con il nostro Don Pasquale presentato nella sua versione integrale su mia indicazione subito accettata dalla direzione artistica del teatro, di fare arrivare al pubblico di Bilbao la profondit\u00e0 dei suoi contenuti, la bellezza della sua musica, la capacit\u00e0 di far divertire oggi come allora e quella di far riflettere sulle dinamiche amorose e sulla modernit\u00e0 del protagonista, malinconicamente costretto ad abbandonare le ultime velleit\u00e0 erotiche e nuziali di fronte all\u2019amore fra due giovani\u00bb.
