The small village of Simala, in the heart of Sardinia, serves as the stage for an architectural intervention that bridges the past and the future, breathing new life into a historical structure. Curated by the young architect Martino Picchedda, the project transforms a nineteenth-century building, once the residence of a landowner, into a public exhibition space, acting as a catalyst for social and cultural regeneration.

The design approach celebrates the symbolic value of the ruin, transforming abandoned structures into living narratives of time gone by. The remaining walls, like theatrical backdrops, define a public space that welcomes and fosters connections between intimacy and community. A strong bond with the local landscape and memory emerges through the use of traditional materials and the enhancement of historical traces: the “impedrau” paving and basalt flooring within evoke the past, while the integration of fragments of the original “tellas” stone flooring underscores continuity.

The building becomes a «stage» for the community, a minimalist space where the historicity of the walls merges with the contemporary, never concealing the incompleteness of the ruins. The project does not impose but listens, creating a place that tells stories of resilience and labor, acting as a promoter of a Sardinia that embraces its future without renouncing its roots. The result is a powerful example of how architecture can reinterpret memory, constructing a shared narrative and a model of territorial regeneration.Press Kit ufficio stampa | press officeCristiana Chiorino | comunicArchM. +39 3483169465 studio associato comunicArch – via Belfiore 36, 10125 Torino

pr & media relations – storytelling & journalism – events & exhibitions Martino Picchedda Architetto: Casa delle Tradizioni di Simala (OR), […]

[10,47

post-67322","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-italiano","category-tecnologias
["GET
