\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7 <\/strong>Conductor Riccardo Frizza <\/strong>returns to the Teatro Comunale<\/strong>, Bologna, for his third engagement of the season. From 13th to 19th April<\/strong> he will conduct Un ballo in maschera<\/em><\/strong> in a new production by director Daniele Menghini<\/strong>,with two excellent casts and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna prepared by Gea Garatti Ansini<\/strong>.

Ahead of the premiere, Maestro Frizza shared his excitement about returning to Bologna to conduct this opera and expressed his longstanding connection to the theatre in the following statement:\u00abUn ballo in maschera is an opera that I especially love. I have worked on it twice, both times outside Italy, and with a twenty-year gap in between. This production has enriched my Verdi catalogue: despite my reputation as a ‘Donizetti’ conductor, Verdi is the composer with whose work I have engaged the most, with twenty-three out of twenty-seven titles.<\/em>Il Ballo is being staged at the Teatro Comunale Nouveau, with whose orchestra I have very close ties. It was with them that I made my debut as a conductor many years ago, and I have built an increasingly intense relationship with them in recent seasons. I had the honour of inaugurating this season with La fanciulla del West and recently interpreted Gustav Mahler\u2019s Fifth Symphony for the first time, again allowing me to experience profound mutual understanding with these musicians from Bologna.<\/em>Un ballo in maschera is an enigmatic masterpiece for two reasons. Before the final disclosure, enigma prevails: on discovering which characters hide behind the masks, the audience become involved in the action, revealing its secrets before the theatrical climax. Secondly, the opera is remarkable from a musical perspective for its balance between dramatic tension and the levity of opera buffa, represented emblematically by the character of the page, Oscar. With each appearance, he breaks the monotony and brings with him a joy and freshness that transform the musical atmosphere.<\/em>In Il Ballo, the heart of the drama lies in the antinomy between festiveness and death, between the superficiality of social life and the profoundness of inner torment. These themes were common in nineteenth century opera and here they become a painful revelation of the authenticity of suffering in contrast with a joyous fa\u00e7ade. The daggers hidden beneath the conspirators\u2019 and Renato\u2019s cloaks pierce not only Riccardo\u2019s heart but also our conscience, bringing us face to face with the difficulty of living, loving and forgiving.\u00bb<\/em><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf9 <\/strong>Terzo appuntamento ravvicinato nella stagione in corso con il Teatro Comunale di Bologna<\/strong> per il direttore d’orchestra Riccardo Frizza <\/strong>che, dal 13 al 19 aprile<\/strong>, diriger\u00e0 l\u2019Orchestra e il Coro del Comunale preparato da Gea Garatti Ansini<\/strong> nella nuova produzione di Un ballo in maschera<\/em><\/strong> firmata dal regista Daniele Menghini<\/strong>.
A pochi giorni dalla prima, il Maestro condivide la sua emozione nel tornare a Bologna per dirigere quest’opera, parlando anche del suo profondo legame con il teatro con la seguente dichiarazione:\u00abUn ballo in maschera \u00e8 un’opera che amo particolarmente. L\u2019ho affrontata due volte, entrambe all\u2019estero e a vent\u2019anni di distanza l\u2019una dall\u2019altra. Con questa produzione, il mio catalogo verdiano si arricchisce ulteriormente: nonostante la mia fama di \u201cdonizettiano\u201d, Verdi \u00e8 sempre il compositore con il quale mi sono maggiormente misurato. Posso contare ben ventitr\u00e9 titoli verdiani su ventisette.<\/em>Il Ballo andr\u00e0 in scena al Teatro Comunale Nouveau, con un\u2019orchestra alla quale sono profondamente legato. Fu con essa, infatti, che debuttai come direttore molti anni fa, e con essa ho stretto un rapporto sempre pi\u00f9 intenso nelle ultime stagioni. Ho infatti avuto l’onore di inaugurare questa stagione con La fanciulla del West e recentemente di interpretare per la prima volta la Quinta Sinfonia di Gustav Mahler che, ancora una volta, mi ha fatto sperimentare la profonda intesa con i professori felsinei.<\/em>Un ballo in maschera \u00e8 un capolavoro enigmatico, e lo \u00e8 per due motivi. Prima dello smascheramento finale domina l\u2019enigma: il pubblico, scoprendo chi si cela dietro le maschere, diventa parte attiva dell\u2019azione, svelando i segreti prima ancora del culmine drammaturgico. In secondo luogo, l\u2019opera \u00e8 musicalmente straordinaria per il suo equilibrio tra la tensione drammatica e la leggerezza dell\u2019opera buffa, rappresentata emblematicamente dal personaggio del paggio Oscar. Ogni sua apparizione rompe il grigiore e porta con s\u00e9 una gioia e una freschezza che trasformano l\u2019atmosfera musicale.<\/em>Nel Ballo, il cuore del dramma risiede nell\u2019antinomia tra festa e morte, tra la superficialit\u00e0 della vita sociale e la profondit\u00e0 del tormento interiore. Temi cari all\u2019opera ottocentesca, che qui diventano una dolorosa rivelazione dell\u2019autenticit\u00e0 del dolore rispetto all\u2019apparenza della gioia. I pugnali nascosti sotto i mantelli dei congiurati e di Renato trafiggono non solo il cuore di Riccardo, ma anche le nostre coscienze, mettendoci di fronte alla difficolt\u00e0 del vivere, dell\u2019amare, del perdonare\u00bb.<\/em><\/td><\/tr>
