Giuseppina Bridelli debuts as Diana in La Calisto<\/em>

Giuseppina Bridelli \u00a9 Andrea Chemelli<\/td><\/tr>
\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7 Giuseppina Bridelli<\/strong>, mezzosoprano from Piacenza and one of the most highly regarded singers of the Baroque repertoire, brings nearly twenty years of experience to the stage. She now embarks on a new artistic challenge: her role debut as Diana in Cavalli\u2019s La Calisto<\/em><\/strong> in a new production at the Festival d\u2019Aix-en-Provence<\/strong> directed by Jetske Mijnssen<\/strong>, with Maestro S\u00e9bastien Dauc\u00e9<\/strong> leading his Ensemble Correspondances<\/strong>.<\/strong>

\u00abDiana is a truly impassioning …. and impassioned character!\u00bb says Giuseppina.<\/strong> \u00abShe is instinctive in all her acts of expression, from mad love to blind rage, all the while maintaining the demeanour of a goddess and, in this magnificent production, the allure of nobility. She is like Jupiter’s female alter ego. In my view, Cavalli occupies a special place amongst seventeenth century composers: if Monteverdi is ‘the divine one’, Cavalli is ‘the most human’ and his characters are always portrayed with simplicity and truth. His music truly speaks to everyone with directness and authenticity, and I love it deeply. I’m happy to be returning to the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence after my debut last season withIl ritorno di Ulisse in patria<\/em>, and to be doing so with La Calisto<\/em>, a work which I’m taking on for the first time, and which will accompany me in the coming season too.
The greatest challenge? Singing music from the seventeenth century in the magnificent setting of the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l’Archev\u00each\u00e9, a marvellous space, but en plein air <\/em>and, as a result, always insidious for this repertoire. On the other hand, in the libretto Calisto is transformed into the Ursa major, so where better for this opera to be performed than under the stars?\u00bb

La Calisto<\/em> will be staged at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l\u2019Archev\u00each\u00e9<\/strong> on:

\ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf9 Giuseppina Bridelli<\/strong>, mezzosoprano piacentino e tra le interpreti pi\u00f9 apprezzate del repertorio barocco, porta in scena un\u2019esperienza maturata in quasi vent\u2019anni di carriera. Ora affronta una nuova sfida artistica: il debutto nel ruolo di Diana<\/strong> ne<\/strong> La Calisto<\/em><\/strong> di Cavalli<\/strong> in una nuova produzione del Festival d\u2019Aix-en-Provence<\/strong> firmata da Jetske Mijnssen<\/strong> e con la direzione del Maestro S\u00e9bastien Dauc\u00e9<\/strong> alla guida del suo Ensemble Correspondances<\/strong>.

\u00abDiana \u00e8 un personaggio davvero appassionante …e appassionato! \u2013 dichiara Giuseppina.<\/strong> \u00c8 istintiva in ogni sua espressione, dall\u2019amore folle all\u2019ira pi\u00f9 cieca, pur mantenendo il contegno di una dea e, in questa magnifica produzione, il fascino della nobilt\u00e0. Una sorta di alter ego femminile di Giove. Cavalli, per me, occupa un posto speciale tra i compositori del Seicento: se Monteverdi \u00e8 \u00abil divino\u00bb, Cavalli \u00e8 \u00abil pi\u00f9 umano\u00bb e i suoi personaggi sono sempre ritratti con semplicit\u00e0 e verit\u00e0. La sua musica parla davvero a tutti in modo diretto e autentico. La amo profondamente. E sono felice di tornare al Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence dopo il mio debutto la stagione passata con Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria<\/em>, e di farlo con La Calisto<\/em>, un titolo che affronto per la prima volta e che mi accompagner\u00e0 anche nella prossima stagione. La sfida pi\u00f9 grande? Cantare il Seicento nella magnifica cornice del Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l’Archev\u00each\u00e9, spazio meraviglioso ma en plein air, dunque sempre insidioso per questo repertorio. Ma, d\u2019altra parte, Calisto nel libretto viene trasformata nell\u2019Orsa maggiore, dunque dove potrebbe svolgersi quest’opera se non sotto le stelle?\u00bb
