\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7 Another double debut<\/strong> for Dave Monaco<\/strong>, a new role and a new stage, once again with Rossini and once again under the baton of Sesto Quatrini<\/strong>.
On Friday 18th July<\/strong>, Dave opens the 51st Festival della Valle d\u2019Itria<\/strong> in the role of Argirio<\/strong> in Tancredi<\/em><\/strong>,<\/a> an opera returning to Martina Franca after a remarkable 49-year absence. This historic return comes with a brand-new production by Andrea Bernard<\/strong>,as part of the first edition curated by artistic director Silvia Colasanti titled \u201cWars and Peace.\u201d

\u00abArgirio is an important stage in my development,\u00bb says Dave on the eve of the premiere<\/strong>. \u00abThis character calls for musical precision, control over melody, and a more authoritative stage presence than the many lighter Rossini roles. He reminds me of Creon in Antigone<\/em>: a man who is forced to sacrifice his daughter in the interest of the state. From a vocal perspective, it is extremely challenging: Argirio\u2019s tessitura is extensive and demanding, calling for control and maturity that exceed the characteristics of the more vivacious roles. Of course, interpreting an authoritative father figure at the age of 29 involves in-depth work from a theatrical point of view in order to be credible on stage. I share Maestro Sesto Quatrini and Andrea Bernard\u2019s vision of opera, and I know that together we will create an authentic, Argirio, in line with Rossini\u2019s composition, suited to my voice and my stage experience. In a word, I\u2019m taking up the challenge of this production of Tancredi<\/em> with enthusiasm and a great sense of responsibility. Long live Rossini!\u00bb

The production features a rare staging of both the tragic and happy endings that Rossini composed for different versions of the opera, offering audiences a uniquely rich musical and dramatic experience. Performances on 18, 26, 29 July and 2 August.<\/strong>

Venerd\u00ec 18 luglio<\/strong> inaugura il 51\u00b0 Festival della Valle d’Itria<\/strong> nel ruolo di Argirio<\/strong> nel Tancredi<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, opera che torna a Martina Franca dopo ben 49 anni. Un ritorno storico e una produzione nuova di Andrea Bernard<\/strong>, all’interno della prima edizione del Festival firmato dalla direttrice artistica Silvia Colasanti<\/strong> e intitolato \u00abGuerre e Pace\u00bb.

\u00abArgirio \u00e8, per me, un momento di crescita importante \u2013 dichiara Dave Monaco alla vigilia dell’inaugurazione<\/strong>. \u00c8 un personaggio che richiede rigore musicale, controllo della linea vocale e un\u2019autorevolezza teatrale che va oltre la leggerezza di tanti ruoli rossiniani. La sua figura mi ricorda Creonte dell\u2019Antigone<\/em>: un uomo costretto a sacrificare la figlia in nome della ragion di Stato. Dal punto di vista vocale, \u00e8 un grosso impegno: la tessitura di Argirio \u00e8 impervia, ampia, richiede un controllo e una maturit\u00e0 che vanno oltre le caratteristiche dei ruoli pi\u00f9 brillanti. Certo, interpretare un padre autorevole a 29 anni implica anche un lavoro profondo sul piano teatrale, per raggiungere la piena credibilit\u00e0 scenica. Con il Maestro Sesto Quatrini e con Andrea Bernard condivido una visione comune sul teatro musicale: so che costruiremo insieme un Argirio autentico e coerente con la scrittura rossiniana, cucito sulla mia voce e sulla mia esperienza teatrale. Insomma, questa produzione di Tancredi<\/em> \u00e8 una sfida che affronto con entusiasmo e grande responsabilit\u00e0. Viva Rossini!\u00bb

La produzione propone un raro affiancamento dei due finali \u2013 lieto e tragico \u2013 che Rossini scrisse per versioni diverse dell\u2019opera, offrendo cos\u00ec al pubblico un\u2019esperienza musicale e drammaturgica eccezionalmente ricca. In scena il 18, 26, 29 luglio e 2 agosto<\/strong>.
