\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7 Giulio Arnofi <\/strong>makes his debut on the podium of the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana<\/strong> in two concerts on Friday 23rd January<\/strong> and<\/strong> Saturday 24th January<\/strong> at the<\/strong> Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo<\/strong>. The programme features works by Stravinsky, Mendelssohn and Dvo\u0159\u00e1k <\/strong>which\u201cspeaks of the historical twentieth century, but also of Classicism and Romanticism, where musical forms, styles, harmonies, rhythms and melodies show how the past, whether recent or distant, is threaded by a line that stitches history together and brings different eras closer, creating aesthetic cycles of great interest\u201d, <\/em>as explained by Maestro Arnofi<\/strong>.

The concert opens with Danses concertantes<\/em><\/strong> by Stravinsky, composed during his exile in the United States following the dictatorship and hostile climate of the Soviet Union. It is a work rich in modernity, yet tinged with a sense of nostalgia for the Europe he had left behind. This is followed by Mendelssohn\u2019s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage<\/em><\/strong>ouverture which takes us back, almost nostalgically, to the highest peaks of musical history, steeped in literary culture. The programme concludes withDvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s Symphony No. 9, \u201cFrom the New World\u201d<\/em><\/strong> written during his time in the United States, where he served as director of the New York National Conservatory of Music. Strongly influenced by its American surroundings, the Czech composer\u2019s final symphony unfolds with a rich variety of ideas, themes and interwoven elements. From the meeting of two cultures emerged one of the most celebrated and surprising symphonic works of the late nineteenth century.<\/td><\/tr>

In programma tre pagine firmate da Stravinskij, Mendelssohn e Dvo\u0159\u00e1k che parlano di \u00abNovecento storico, ma anche di Classicismo e Romanticismo, dove le forme musicali, gli stili, le armonie, i ritmi e le melodie ci confermano come il passato, recente o remoto, sia attraversato da un filo che cuce la storia e riavvicina le epoche, creando ciclicit\u00e0 estetiche di estremo interesse<\/em>\u00bb, commenta il Maestro Arnofi<\/strong>.

Il concerto si apre con Danses concertantes<\/strong><\/em> di Stravinskij, composte durante il suo esilio negli Stati Uniti a seguito della dittatura e del clima ostile dell\u2019Unione Sovietica: un brano ricco di modernit\u00e0 ma anche di una sorta di \u00abnostalgia\u00bb per tutto quello che era stata l\u2019Europa. Segue l\u2019ouverture Calma di mare e viaggio felice<\/strong><\/em> di Mendelssohn che riporta quasi \u201cnostalgicamente\u201d alle vette pi\u00f9 alte della storia musicale, intrise di cultura letteraria. Si conclude con la Sinfonia n. 9 \u201cDal Nuovo Mondo\u201d<\/strong><\/em> di Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, composta anch\u2019essa negli Stati Uniti negli anni in cui l’autore diresse il National Conservatory of Music di New York e fortemente influenzata dall\u2019ambiente americano. Di qui la ricchezza di idee, di temi e di intrecci che caratterizza l\u2019ultima sinfonia del compositore ceco: dall\u2019incontro di due civilt\u00e0 \u00e8 scaturita una delle pagine sinfoniche pi\u00f9 celebri e sorprendenti della fine dell\u2019Ottocento.<\/td><\/tr>
