\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7 After Genoa, Luciano Ganci<\/strong> returns to the role of Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana<\/em><\/strong>, a portrayal described as \u201camong the most elegant and refined heard in years and years of Cavalleria\u201d. <\/em>The Roman tenor will appear at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino from 22nd February to 3rd March<\/strong><\/a> in Robert Carsen<\/strong>\u2019s celebrated production of the double bill Pagliacci \u2013 Cavalleria rusticana<\/em>, here conducted by Riccardo Frizza<\/strong>.

\u00abIt’s a thrill and a challenge to interpret Turiddu in this production directed by Robert Carsen, considered to be one of his best\u00bb, says Luciano<\/strong>. \u00abThe Canadian stage director’s Cavalleria rusticana<\/em> isn’t set in the customary Sicily: the sun, town square, symbols and colour are all missing. Here it is the voice above all that will be called upon to bring alive sentiments, ardent passions that are seemingly secret but in fact common knowledge, and Turiddu’s acceptance of that centuries old code of honour which makes him more a victim than a protagonist. The story takes place, ending in bloodshed, on the most important day in the Christian calendar, Easter day, celebration of the triumph of life over death. I’ve sung as Turiddu in several prestigious theatres, and to be performing at the Teatro del Maggio in this role, which requires a vocalism that moves from lyrical and mellow to stentorian, intense accents in moments of desperation, and wholehearted identification with the character, fills me with joy. \u00ab

Two performances have already sold out<\/strong> \u2014 the opening night on 22nd February and the afternoon performance on 28th February \u2014 confirming the strong anticipation surrounding the first revival of this production in Italy.

\u00abInterpretare Turiddu nello spettacolo firmato da Robert Carsen e considerato uno dei suoi migliori, \u00e8 una sfida eccitante, dichiara Luciano<\/strong>. La Cavalleria rusticana <\/em>del regista canadese non \u00e8 ambientata nella solita Sicilia, vi mancano il sole, la piazza, i simboli, il colore. Qui toccher\u00e0 soprattutto alla voce dare senso ai sentimenti, alle passioni brucianti apparentemente segrete ma in realt\u00e0 risapute da tutti, all\u2019accettazione di Turiddu di quel codice d\u2019onore millenario che ne fa una vittima prima che protagonista: la storia si svolge e si chiude col sangue nel giorno pi\u00f9 importante della cristianit\u00e0, quello di Pasqua, quando si celebra il trionfo della vita sulla morte. Sono stato Turiddu in alcuni prestigiosi teatri, riproporre al Teatro del Maggio questo ruolo che richiede una vocalit\u00e0 ora lirica e suadente ora stentorea, accenti intensi nei momenti della disperazione e immedesimazione convinta, mi riempie di gioia\u00bb.

Due recite sono gi\u00e0 sold out<\/strong> \u2014 quella inaugurale del 22 febbraio e la pomeridiana del 28 febbraio \u2014 a conferma della grande attesa che accompagna la prima italiana di questa produzione.
