Poetry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hottest time of summer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A crush of passengers in a minibus,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smell of hell inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A woman’s milk has spilled from her jar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She sings a \u201csong\u201d of curses<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a vulgar voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no smell of milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But let me also say<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That the driver is more merciful than God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using an improvised method,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has installed a fan<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To bring some coolness to this hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new passenger gets on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver shouts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe a little kinder!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A woman’s voice, full of passion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon’t worry, brother,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have already become relatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wedding music plays on the tape recorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How beautiful our land is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can enjoy ourselves even in hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this is no pleasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone has put on perfume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smells of perfume mix with one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel sick<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of this artificiality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have missed the smell of a cowshed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the cows know their own places in the cowshed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A human being does not even know their own place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone is trying to get to the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minibus stopped<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because someone had whistled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whistling is the world’s first music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How beautiful our land is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have not forgotten the first music either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remembered my grandmother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She used to sing songs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While milking the cows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think this was the world’s second music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cows that had grown accustomed<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To my grandmother’s song<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gave more milk, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the smell of that milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was better than all the smells in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the curses of the woman<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whose milk had spilled<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Were, I think, the world’s third melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song in the minibus<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was the fourth melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have missed the second melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is like a second wind<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For someone like me,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
