I have fulfilled a dream this year with my first solo album, thanks to Pentatone by whom it has been produced and released, to the orchestra and chorus of the Opera Carlo Felice Genova conducted by Sesto Quatrini, and to the support provided by the Fondazione Paolo e Carolina Zanifor art and culture. I am pleased because these partners, who are all close to my heart, have chosen to invest not in a self-referential album, but in a more coherent historical and theatrical project.
I often say that I worship Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi, irrespective of the opportunities to perform in their operas that I have had or will have in future. As a result, this album stems from what I consider to be my roots, well-established thanks to the lessons learnt from my teachers, and internalised by listening to the great singers of the past. For that reason, I have chosen to record five great scenes from operas in which I have already performed, or am about to perform on stage. It was this challenge that prompted the title of the CD, Indomita, because each of the protagonists to whom I have lent my voice is an indomitable heroine (and woman).
il mio primo disco da solista Il primo disco da solista è un sogno che realizzo quest’anno grazie alla Pentatone che lo produce e distribuisce, ai complessi orchestrali e corali dell’Opera Carlo Felice Genova diretti da Sesto Quatrini e al sostegno della Fondazione Paolo e Carolina Zani per l’arte e la cultura. Sono felice perché questi partner, che mi sono tutti cari, hanno deciso di investire non su un disco autoreferenziale ma su un più coerente progetto storico e drammaturgico. Affermo spesso che coltivo il culto di Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti e Verdi, indipendentemente dalle occasioni che ho avuto e avrò di portare le loro opere in palcoscenico. Pertanto, questo disco parte da quelle radici che sento mie perché le ho ben piantate grazie agli insegnamenti dei miei maestri e che ho incamerato ascoltando i grandi cantanti del passato. La conseguenza è che ho scelto di registrare cinque grandi scene tratte da opere che ho già portato in teatro o che sto per affrontare. Una sfida che ha suggerito il titolo del CD, Indomita, perché ognuna delle protagoniste alle quali ho prestato la mia voce è una eroina (e una donna) indomita. INDOMITA esce l’11 aprile.
