| VERDI REQUIEM |
| Gstaad Menuhin Festival, 30th August |
| Singing in the Verdi Requiem is a regular fixture in my calendar of which I’m particularly proud. Measuring myself each time with orchestras and conductors who, like me, hold this Verdi masterpiece in the highest regard, is allowing me to discover in it a universe of detail, highlighted thanks to different musical sensitivities. In 2025 I’ve already performed the Requiem twice, with the Sächsischer Staatsopernchor Dresden and the Staatskapelle conducted by Maestro Gatti in Dresden, where our attention was on the commemoration of the bombing of Dresden in 1945, making it an almost unique performance.On 30th August, I’m singing for the first time at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. Our conductor will be Gianandrea Noseda at the helm of the orchestra and chorus of the Zurich Opera House, where he is General Music Director. I’m delighted to be meeting Maestro Noseda again, after working briefly together in the early years of my career, and to be singing this heart-stricken yet meditative and finally pacifying soprano part, performing with such wonderful colleagues as Elina Garanča, Joseph Calleja and Roberto Tagliavini. |
