| Annalisa Stroppa debuts at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste with one of her iconic roles, Rosina 28, 30 November / 5, 7, 11, 13 December Season inauguration  Annalisa Stroppa © Marco Borrelli🇬🇧 Annalisa Stroppa brings one of her iconic roles, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, to the Teatro Verdi, Trieste, and the occasion is not to be missed. Firstly because, for the mezzosoprano from Brescia, this is her first time singing at the great theatre in Trieste; then because, with this work, the theatre is inaugurating the season with a project that alternates Rossini’s masterpiece and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, aiming to put Figaro, this revolutionary opera figure, into focus and under the spotlight. Stage direction, stage sets and costumes for both operas bear the signature of maestro Pier Luigi Pizzi, making his first true debut in the city (where he has worked previously only on a reprise of one of his productions). As a result, the theatre and its audience are in a celebratory mood.Commenting on this Barbiere, conducted by Enrico Calesso and with an exceptional cast, Annalisa Stroppa says: «Eighteen productions and fifty two performances of this opera buffa by Rossini are a lot, but each time I interpret Rosina it is with the same enthusiasm as my first performance in 2012 at the Opera di Roma. Each time, Rossini’s music, perfect and set inside a prodigious theatrical mechanism, helps me to define aspects of this character that I find enchanting for their modernity and theatrical incisiveness. It is a thrill to bring this astute, determined girl alive with my gestures and voice. Innanzitutto, perché il mezzosoprano bresciano canta per la prima volta al Massimo triestino, poi perché con questo Barbiere il teatro inaugura la stagione con un progetto che alternerà il capolavoro rossiniano con le mozartiane Nozze di Figaro, con l’intento di mettere a fuoco e in risalto la figura rivoluzionaria di Figaro nel teatro d’opera. Entrambe le opere sono firmate per la regia, le scene e i costumi dal maestro Pier Luigi Pizzi, al suo vero debutto in città (dove era stato solo per la ripresa di una sua regia).Teatro e pubblico in festa, quindi. A proposito di questo Barbiere, che si avvale della direzione d’orchestra di Enrico Calesso e di un cast eccellente, la Stroppa ha commentato: «Diciotto produzioni e cinquantadue recite del capolavoro buffo rossiniano sono tante ma, ogni volta, torno a interpretare Rosina con lo stesso entusiasmo con il quale l’affrontai la prima volta nel 2012 all’Opera di Roma. La musica di Rossini, perfetta e inserita in un meccanismo teatrale prodigioso, ogni volta mi aiuta a definire lati del personaggio che mi incantano per modernità ed efficacia drammaturgica.
